HORRIBLE HAPPENINGS 2017

Welcome and welcome and WELCOME to another HORRIBLE YEAR in the life of the World’s most HORRIBLE Science and History Writer.  That’s none other than the one and only (let’s hope so anyway) NICK ARNOLD!!!!!

This year Nick gets to travel to even more exciting and exotic countries and meets even more Horrible Science and History fans and turns lots more unsuspecting kids and parents into fans too …. JANUARY

Saturday 28 – Sunday 29 January – Nick Arnold at the Eden Project, Cornwall.  NICK SAYS:  HELLLLLLOOO Everyone!  What a HORRIBLY LOVELY Two Days at the Awesome Eden Project.  1500+ people SIX GREAT MICROSCOPIC MONSTERS SHOWS & they ran out of Horrible Science books to sell and book plates to give away!!!!!

FEBRUARY

THIS MONTH IS NICK ARNOLD’S HORRIBLE SCIENCE TOUR DE FRANCE!

Thursday 9 February – Nick Arnold at the International School of Lyon, France.  NICK SAYS:  WHAT A DAY WE HAD !  Thanks to all of you who took part and had such a good time!  It’s the audience that makes the show!  BIG THANKS to Chloe in the Library!

Friday 10 February – Nick Arnold at the British School of Paris, France.  NICK SAYS:  A great day at TWO great schools – so sorry we ran out of book plates and had to improvise!  A BIG CHEER for the wonderful teachers and staff too!

IT’S FOLLOWED BY NICK ARNOLD’S WORLD BOOK WEEK TOUR OF BRITAIN!

Sunday 26 February – 4 pm – Nick Arnold at Brooklands Museum, Surrey.  NICK SAYS:  The room was packed, the pace was FAST this Horrible Science show was a real BIG BLAST!  An amazing audience in a MAGNIFICENT museum!

Monday 27 February – Nick Arnold at Danes Hill School, Surrey.  NICK SAYS:  The kids had a SURPRISE but it was FUN – I guess the best days are like that!

MARCH

Wednesday 1 March – Nick Arnold at the Mosley Academy, Burton-on-Trent.  NICK SAYS:  A little school with a REALLY BIG heart – thank you for inviting me!

Thursday 2 March – Nick Arnold at Rockleigh Prep School, Solihull.  NICK SAYS:  Upstairs and downstairs Nick did go – and everyone was thrilled by his HORRIBLE SCIENCE SHOW!

Friday 3 March – Nick Arnold at St John Plessington School, Wirral.  NICK SAYS:  In a smart new school sat a BIG HAPPY crowd and the show was FUN and the show was LOUD!

Friday 17 March – Nick Arnold at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School and St Benedict’s Catholic School, Stockport.  NICK SAYS:  2 Friendly SCIENCE-SMART Schools in ONE WONDER-FILLED DAY!  Horrible Science Shows have never been such FUN!  Thanks Everyone!

Tuesday 28 March – Nick Arnold at St Gilgen International School, Austria.  NICK SAYS:  This is a BEAUTIFUL school in an unbelievably beautiful place – what a delight to visit and meet you all!

Thursday 30 March – Friday 31 March – Nick Arnold at Dresden International School, Germany.  NICK SAYS:  A wunderbar two days – friendly school, friendly staff and friendly students!  I also want to say a HUGE THANK YOU! to Vicky Green for inviting me to Germany and for getting so many other schools involved!

Monday 3 April – Tuesday 4 April – Nick Arnold at Berlin Metropolitan School, Germany.  NICK SAYS:  An EQUALLY HUGE THANK YOU to Miss Douglas in the Library for getting everything organised and a FRIENDLY GET-WELL-SOON to Cyril Compeyron, who worked so hard to plan the Berlin part of the tour.  HALLO to everyone who saw my shows and came to the evening show for families!

Monday 3 April – Nick Arnold at Berlin Brandenburg International School, Germany.  NICK SAYS:  An exciting dash across Berlin took us to an exciting and friendly school.  It was lovely to meet you all!  Thank you to Sarah Peters – and have you seen the great photos on FaceBook?

Tuesday 4 April – Nick Arnold at Quentin-Blake Europe- School, Berlin, Germany.  NICK SAYS:  This lovely school was part of one of the busiest days of the trio – but thanks to YOU the amazing audience we all enjoyed TWO GREAT SHOWS (including me)!

Wednesday 5 April – Nick Arnold at Europaische Schule Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany.  NICK SAYS:  Just as yours truly started to tire, along comes the WONDERFUL MRS McWILLIAMS to make me feel welcome and re-energised for THREE SPLENDID SHOWS in a wonderful school!

Thursday 6 April – Nick Arnold at Europaische Schule RheinMain, Bad Vilbel, Germany.  NICK SAYS:  Thanks also to Mrs Kirmse for making me feel so welcome at Bad Vilbel – what a marvellous school with a Five Star Library.  Hallo to each and every one of you!

Sunday 15 April – Nick Arnold speaks on 1069 and all that at Burton Gallery, Bideford.  NICK SAYS:  Yes, it’s time to talk about the famous battlefield I discovered last year.

Thursday 4 May – Nick Arnold at New Beacon School, Sevenoaks – NICK SAYS:  Just back from this ever-so fantastic school.  Many THANKS to everyone – especially Mrs Howe and the amazing Mr Coleman!  Thanks also to all of you FANTASTIC FANS at the school and NO THANKS to me for being late because I got lost – But EXTRA THANKS to everyone for being so nice about it!!!!

Wednesday 17 May – Nick Arnold at Wicor Primary School, Portchester – NICK SAYS: Your school is GREAT  and it’s hard to rate how WONDERFUL you are – I had such a GREAT DAY that I want to SING – Thank you WICOR for EVERYTHING!

Tuesday 30 May – Nick Arnold at Hay Festival of Literature, Hay-on-Wye – NICK SAYS – 800 Happy HORRIBLE SCIENCE FANS = one VERY HAPPY AUTHOR.  Great Audience = Great Show = Lots of Excitement.  IT ALL ADDS UP!

JUNE

Wednesday 14 June – Nick Arnold at HJPS, School, Hertsmere – NICK SAYS – CONGRATULATIONS TO Y1 and Y2 THE WINNERS OF THE LOUDEST GORILLA IMPRESSIONS EVER AWARD and to KS2 for your ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME and thanks to all your teachers too!

AND ALL THOSE NICE SUNNY SUMMER MONTHS – NICK ARNOLD WRITES LOTS OF HORRIBLY AMAZING BOOKS!!!  It’s a TOUGH JOB but someone’s gotta do it!!!

SEPTEMBER

Saturday 16th September – Saturday 16 September Nick Arnold at the Eagle House Festival, Berkshire – NICK SAYS:  Horrible Science ROCKED the tent and the show got loud and off we went.  Lots of Laughter – lots of fun – lots of THANKS to EVERYONE!

Friday 22 September – Sunday 1 October – Time for the AWESOME APPLEDORE BOOK FESTIVAL – NICK SAYS:  The FANTASTIC Festival goes from strong to STRONGER and I’m so thrilled to be its founder and patron of the super Schools Programme!  This year SIX THOUSAND TICKETS WERE SOLD – a record.  And next year is set to be even better!  SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

Saturday 23 September – Nick Arnold at TECH-FEST, Aberdeen – NICK SAYS:  Two Amazing Shows.  Two Amazing Audiences and One Amazing Festival – surely one of Scotland’s finest!  Hope I can come back soon!

OCTOBER

Thursday 12 October – Nick Arnold at Brighton College, Sussex – NICK SAYS:  Sadly after two years of waiting the school had to cancel!  OH DEAR – hope to see you all another time!

Friday 20th October – Nick Arnold at Canada Hill Primary School, Newton Abbot, Devon – NICK SAYS:  This is a lovely friendly school full of friendly children and teachers.  I enjoyed my visit a lot and didn’t want to go home!  THANKS FOR MAKING ME FEEL SO WELCOME!

Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November – Nick Arnold at Winchester Science Centre – NICK SAYS:  Six Amazing Shows for Six Amazing Audiences.  Bucketfuls of LAUGH-OUT-LOUD moments!  THANK YOU WINCHESTER!
