JANUARY

Nick writes book on How Cars Work for Quarto Children’s Books. NICK SAYS: How Machines Work has been such a big success that those nice people at Quarto want another helping. Look out for it next year!

FEBRUARY

Thursday 9th February – Nick Arnold at Haberdasher’s Aske’s Crayford Acedemy.
NICK SAYS: Thanks to all of you at Crayford Academy for being such an enthusiastic audience!

Friday 13th February – The Secret of Bloody Corner, Torrington, 7.30 pm. Nick reveals the secret of another brilliant slice of history research. A battle that no-one has ever heard of!
NICK SAYS: There’s only one thing as good as Science and that’s making new discoveries in history.

Monday 27th February – Thursday 21st June – Nick Arnold and the Friends of Appledore Library refurbish Appledore Library. This is a FIRST in two ways
1 The first time a Friends group has ever revamped a British Public Library.
2 The first time a British author has organised a project like this.
NICK SAYS: Libraries mean a lot to me but I couldn’t have done it without the help and support of a lot of good people in Appledore and Devon County Council.

MARCH

Wednesday 21st March – Nick Arnold at Pyne’s Infant School at Bideford. NICK SAYS: I had a super day of Horrible Science – and so did everyone else!

Saturday 24th March – Nick Arnold’s Horrible Science Best Bits Show at the HG Wells Centre, Woking, 4 pm. Event organised by Surrey Libraries. NICK SAYS: This was the start of what looks like a fantastic festival. Do please support it if you live in Surrey!

Thursday 29th March – Nick Arnold at the grand opening of the Horrible Science of Submarines Exhibition at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum, Gosport. The Exhibition was written by Nick and designed by Tony De Saulles. NICK SAYS: It is a wonderful thing to see how much the young visitors love this eyeball-popping exhibition.

APRIL

Saturday 14th April – Nick Arnold’s Horrible Science Best Bits Show at the Scarborough Literary Festival, Scarborough Library Concert Hall, 3 pm. NICK SAYS: The show was a sell-out and it was great to have such a fantastic audience!

Thursday 19th April – Nick Arnold at Great Morlands School, near Great Yarmouth. NICK SAYS: What a thrill it was to visit your lovely school. Happy reading to all those of you who bought Horrible Science books!

Friday 20th April – Nick Arnold at Peterhouse Primary School, near Great Yarmouth
NICK SAYS: This is a brand-new school with a very exciting future – oh yes, and really friendly pupils too. Hi to all of you!

Monday 23rd April – Monday 30th April – Nick Arnold at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, United Arab Emirates. NICK SAYS: I can now say I have seen a camel in the desert and paddled in the Indian Ocean and haggled in the souk and met a Princess. Sharjah is SHOUT OUT LOUD AMAZING!

MAY

Saturday 12th May – Nick Arnold’s Horrible Science Best Bits Show at the Linton Book Festival at Linton (don’t gasp too loudly!) near Cambridge, Linton Village College, 12.45. NICK SAYS: The show was sold out for weeks – and what a great audience! Linton is a lovely village and the Festival is FAB too!

JUNE

Thursday June 14th – Nick Arnold at St Matthew’s Primary School, Surbiton. NICK SAYS: A big thank you to the nicest and most friendly school ever!

Friday June 15th – Monday June 18th – Nick Arnold at the Mare di Libri Festival in Rimini, Italy. NICK SAYS: Three days of sunshine, Horrible Science and the best ice-cream in the known universe – what’s not to like?

Sunday June 24th – Nick Arnold at Monster Fest in Inverness, Scotland. Horrible Science Best Bits Show at 3.30 pm. NICK SAYS: I signed so many books that my hand dropped off – luckily we had some sticky tape for a quick repair. Thanks to all of you who made it such a great event!

Thursday June 28th – Nick Arnold at Pingle School, Derbyshire. NICK SAYS: Storms couldn’t damp the horrible excitement of this welcoming and lovely school – Hi to all of you!

Saturday June 30th – Nick Arnold at York Festival of Ideas. Event takes place at York Explore (The City Library). NICK SAYS: It’s always a treat to come to York but the best bit was serving up a treat for so many Horrible Science fans!

JULY

Wednesday July 4th – Nick Arnold at the Tring Comedy Festival, school events in the day and public event at 4.30 pm. NICK SAYS: This wonderful, friendly funny festival really tickled my funny bone.

AUGUST

Thursday August 2nd – Nick Arnold at Royal Navy Submarine Museum, Gosport. NICK SAYS: The Horrible Science of Submarines Exhibition has been a MASSIVE success and it was a great thrill to bring it to life in two packed family talks.

SEPTEMBER

The new Horrible Science book House of Horrors is published by Scholastic. House of Horrors is about the horrors that lurk in your house – are YOU brave enough to read it?!

Friday 28th September to Sunday 7th October Appledore Book Festival, North Devon. More details and tickets appledorebookfestival.co.uk NICK SAYS: It’s a great honour to be patron of the Schools Programme of this super-friendly book festival!

OCTOBER

Friday 12th October – Schools event at Morley Town Hall, Leeds for the Morley Book Festival NICK SAYS: It was great to meet all 500 of you – from what I heard you loved the show! My ears are still ringing!

Saturday 13th October – House of Horrors Show at the Beverley Literature Festival, Toll Gavel Methodist Church, Beverley, East Yorkshire at 1.30 pm NICK SAYS: Thanks to the organisers for a memorable show and what a lovely little town.

NOVEMBER

Friday 2nd November – Horrible Science Show at Wessex Children’s Book Festival, Winchester at 12.30 NICK SAYS: So glad you all LOVED the Show – guess what? SO DID I!!!!

Thursday 15th November – Nick Arnold at The Judd School, Tonbridge. NICK SAYS: I hope you enjoyed hearing about MY HORRIBLE LIFE in your lovely school!
